Membership in the Marion Main Street organization is open to anyone with an interest in the revitalization of the community. Everyone, not just business and property owners, but every segment of the community, has a real stake in improving the quality of life in Marion.

As a member of this organization, you are automatically aligned with others who want to preserve the past and influence the future of Marion Main Street district.
Marion Main Street is one of over 50 cities and towns that participate in the Illinois Main Street Program, a cooperative of the Illinois Lieutenant Governor, the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs and the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.  Marion Main Street receives technical assistance from the Illinois Main Street in the areas of organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring.
How is Main Street Funded?
As a charitable, nonprofit organization, Marion  Main Street relies on diverse funding from the City of Marion, membership dues,  grants and private contributions.  This money pays for staffing, production of printed material, promotional activities, special projects and office expenses. 
Your membership is important because...
It funds efforts to improve the business climate and increase property values. A revitalized downtown makes Marion a safer and more attractive place to live, work, and visit.  A vibrant, safe, and attractive district shows outsiders our pride in the community. Through Main Street, citizens and city government representatives come together to find ways to preserve Marion's quality of life, which makes it a very desirable place to live. For your membership you receive...

• Listing on Main Street's web page invitations to all membership activities
  
• Eligibility to vote for the election of the Board of Directors
  
• Opportunities to offer a direct voice in Marion Main Street's  revitalization, work on issues through Main Street's four  committees, and participate in technical training sessions.
