OUR VISION
In the future, Marion will be a town of destination, known for its history, culture, art, and business. The downtown will be the focal point for community activities where young and old can congregate in a positive way. Evidence of community pride will be reflected in well maintained buildings and an inviting historic district.
All buildings will be full with a diverse mix of businesses, including enticing shops open for business, generating additional tax revenues through increased sales. The downtown will be consistently marketed to attract tourists who will come to experience history, art, and cultural activities. These attributes will encourage people to stay longer, and through their positive experiences, come back for return visits. The town will be known for quality craftsmanship with opportunities for viewing working artisans sharing their craft.
Continuing consistency in the rehabilitation of properties based on appropriate historic standards will be evidenced in a fully restored historic district.
Volunteers, with the determination to see downtown Marion achieve its goals, will provide the focus to continue raising the funds, expanding participation, and garnering community commitment to implement the vision for downtown. This effort will produce a vital place for all to live, work, grow, and play. A revitalized downtown Marion will attract visitors and encourage businesses to locate not only downtown, but also in surrounding areas.
Marion will be known as a place on the move, a place to grow, and a place for new generations to follow in the footprints of those gone on before them.
